About Us
The school was formerly known as the Department of Management Science and Engineering, founded in April 2000. It was renamed the Department of Economics and Management in October 2001. The School of Economics and Management was established in April 2005 and in March 2025, the school underwent organizational restructuring and established the School of Management(SOM). The school adheres to the motto of “respecting virtue, valuing application, seeking truth, and innovating”, and is committed to cultivating international and applied management talents.
Disciplines and Programs
The school covers two first-level disciplines, Management Science and Engineering and Business Administration, with departments including Business Administration, Management Science and Engineering, and the Center for Practical Innovation and Entrepreneurship. There are currently five authorized master’s degree programs in “Engineering Management”, “Accounting”, “Applied Statistics”, “International Business”, and “Urban and Rural Planning”; At present, there are six undergraduate majors including Financial Management, Marketing, International Business, Logistics Management, Industrial Engineering, andInformation Management and Information Systems. International Business (English-Taught Program), designed for Chinese students, International Business (International Program), tailored for international students studying in China, and International Business (the 2+2 Chinese-Australia Joint Undergraduate Education Program) are also offered. The Marketing major is a provincial-level first-class undergraduate construction major, Management Science and Engineering is a key discipline and priority discipline at the university, and the College of Green Supply Chain Industry is an affiliated industry-oriented college. The Industrial Engineering major has passed the 2024 Yangtze River Delta New Humanities Education Professional Certification. There are currently over 1,800 full-time undergraduate and graduate students, as well as more than 80 full-time international students.
Faculty
The school currently has about 90 faculty and staff, including 68 professional teachers, of whom 11 are professors and 21 are associate professors. Senior professional titles account for 47% of the faculty, and 86.7% hold doctoral degrees. More than 20 faculty members have overseas study experience. There are 2 personnel trained under the provincial “151 Talent Project”, 2 young and middle-aged academic leaders in Zhejiang Province’s universities, 2 young scholars from Zhijiang, and 1 provincial “Annual Person of University Counselor” with a senior professional title.
International Exchange and Cooperation
The school actively promotes the cultivation of international talents. Since 2005, it has collaborated with universities such as Erfurt University of Applied Sciences, Kempten University of Applied Sciences, Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts, and Dresden University of Technology and Economics in Germany to carry out dual degree talent training programs such as 2+3 and 2.5+1.5. The school has established student exchange and cooperation relationships with more than 30 foreign universities and institutions, including those in the United States, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Canada, Romania, Belgium, and other countries.
Industry-education Integration
The school places great emphasis on cultivating innovative talents. Since 2008, it has implemented the “three in one project” of entrepreneurship education, which includes “entering the classroom, entering practice, and entering credits”, achieving full coverage of entrepreneurship education. The school has achieved outstanding results in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, winning the National College Student E-commerce “Innovation, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship” Challenge Set Award (the first national-level special award for A-level subject competitions) and the National Gold Award in the “Challenge Cup” College Student Entrepreneurship Plan Competition (achieving the first gold award in the school's history in this national competition). In the past five years, students have won 8 national-level awards and 108 provincial-level awards in various academic competitions, including the China International College Student Innovation Competition. They have led 10 national-level college student innovation and entrepreneurship training projects and 8 provincial-level new talent programs.
Scientific Research
The school is committed to building a high-level new think tank, jointly establishing the “Sino-German Industry and Technology Research Think Tank” with the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the China Democratic Construction Association, and the “Zhejiang High-Quality Open Research Institute” with the Zhejiang Foreign Trade Service Center. The “Research Base for Optimizing Innovation System and Innovation Environment” has been selected as a soft science research base in Zhejiang Province. The school also plays an important role on platforms such as the “German-speakingCountries Research Center”, registered by the Ministry of Education for national and regional research, and the “Sino-German Industrial Culture Research Center”, jointly established with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Over the past five years, the number of high-level projects, such as those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, the National Social Science Foundation, and the Ministry of Education’s Humanities and Social Sciences program, has increased significantly. The number of representative papers published in ABS four-star and above journals and authoritative Chinese journals has grown year by year.
